The Strobist

...Learn how to Light

"This website is about one thing: Learning how to use off-camera flash with your dSLR to take your photos to the next level. Or the next ten levels."

Ah... How can I not include my good friend Ted...

www.Ted Dillard.com

I bought my first digital camera through Ted back in 1999. He became my mentor over the years and I have taken several classes that he has taught. I consider him my "Ace in the Hole" when it comes to the most up to date and accurate information around digital imaging and printing. Because of Ted, I have always been able to stay more educated then my competitors about the technology I use everyday for my business and that gives me that edge. Having that type of resource for any business is invaluable. With all the arguing and disputes about what gear to buy and what software is best, Ted was always there testing it, not talking about it. That was always what made me know that I could take his input to the bank every time. Through all of this he still manages to keep his feet on the ground, maintaining the emphasis on the art of photography itself and not all the technological noise that comes with it.

When it comes to digital imaging and printing,

doing it right is to seek his approval (GL).

Black and White....Done Right!

"The RadioPopper X family of products allow photographers to use their wireless lighting like never before.  RadioPopper unleashes the ability to reliably control off camera strobes, both in ETTL mode, manual mode and high speed sync simultaneously."

"Not only is the RadioPopper PX system the leader in wireless ETTL by radio, but the newest addition to the line, the JrX, makes RadioPopper the first solution to be able to mix ETTL compatible flashes, full power studio strobes and low cost handheld flashes in a single shot. "

An Invitation...

Throughout the past several years, we have been influence and inspired by some wonderful artists.  Understanding how such influences have strengthened and improved our business, we have always been committed to paying it forward.

In July of 2008, after 15 years of on-location portraiture, wedding, theater and stock photography, we found a home for ASA Photographic in the historic Faulkner Mills.  Our dream is for our studio to serve not only as a place to expand our own craft, but as a resource for aspiring and established photographers alike.  Rich in history and set in a beautiful riverside location, the mill provides a perfect setting in which to learn and grow.  Come be inspired with us!
